Danny Murphy has played with and against some of the greatest midfielders the world has ever seen, making him uniquely positioned when it comes to naming the best passer of the ball to ever grace the Premier League.
Names such as Steven Gerrard, David Beckham and Frank Lampard instinctively spring to mind when one thinks of world-class passers he would played with, but while working on Match of the Day he picked out one player who’s currently plying his trade in England’s top flight.
Speaking just hours after a masterclass from Kevin De Bruyne in which he added another three assists to his tally for the season, which now stands at 13, Murphy was gushing in his praise of the Belgium international.
“Man City have the best passer of the ball I’ve ever seen in the Premier League.”

And what is a scary thought for City’s rivals is the fact he’s only 26 and has yet to hit his prime. For now though, we can simply bask in the talents of a truly gifted midfielder.
