Jamie Carragher has apologised after footage emerged on Sunday appearing to show him spitting in the direction of a passing car.
Working as a pundit on Saturday afternoon for the clash of Liverpool and Manchester United, Carragher had seen his former side beaten 2-1 as the Old Trafford club further increased their chances of securing Champions League football for next season.
However, on his return from the game a nasty scene developed as the 40-year-old was filmed spitting in the direction of a family having been, as the ex-defender put it, ‘goaded’ by a man to his right.
After pulling down his window upon hearing the other man’s comments, Carragher appears to spit in the direction of the passing vehicle.

The former England international has since apologised to the family in question, stating:
“I was goaded 3/4 times along the motorway while being filmed & lost my rag. No excuse apologies.”
Totally out of order & Ive apologised personally to all the family this evening. I was goaded 3/4 times along the motorway while being filmed & lost my rag. No excuse apologies. https://t.co/ofrNfiwhYH
