Riyad Mahrez Finally Ends His Self-Imposed Leicester City Exile

Riyad Mahrez will be returning to training with Leicester City on Friday and has made himself available for the Foxes upcoming game against league leaders Manchester City.

The Algerian has not trained with Leicester since the club rejected Manchester City’s bid of over £50 million to buy the 26 year old on deadline day last week, reportedly demanding a deal worth £95m to make the transfer happen.

Leicester manager Claude Puel had previously stated that Mahrez would not be playing against Manchester City but has declared the situation involving the player’s absence from traing has been put aside.

“I think Riyad will be not available for the Saturday game against Manchester City.

“I hope he can get his head right and come back with us and work hard. The best way is to come back and enjoy his football.”

Whether Puel’s stance will remain the same, given Mahrez’s sudden availability, remains to be seen. It does, however suggest that the winger is prepared to knuckle down and play for the club between now and the end of the season.

Mahrez last played for the Foxes on January 20th, in the 2-0 win against Watford, scoring the second goal in stoppage-time.

The 2016 PFA Player of the Year, has scored eight league goals this season along with seven assists, helping his side to eighth place in the Premier League.
