Manchester City are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after a 4-1 win over Burnley at the Etihad.
City remain domestically unbeaten, and their quest for the quadruple remains untarnished – largely thanks to the genius of Ilkay Gundogan & Sergio Aguero.
Having gone behind to an Ashley Barnes strike following an error by John Stones in the first half – City drew themselves level early in the second, courtesy of some quick thinking from Gundogan.
The German played a quick free-kick which caught the Burnley defence asleep – and Aguero found himself in on goal, making no mistake with the finish.
And with the Clarets still stunned from City drawing level – the champions-elect turned the game fully on its head a minute later, with a stunning backheel from Gundogan putting Aguero in again – and he rounded the keeper before slotting home to finish off an exquisite team move from the Blues.
Leroy Sane made it 3-1 following some good interplay with Kevin De Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva sealed the rout in the 81st minute following some poor decision making from Nick Pope, leaving the Portuguese international to tap home into an empty net.
City are through to the next round – but it is the genius of Gundogan they have to thank for that fact.
Pep Guardiola’s men look unstoppable at present – and on current form, it’s hard to see anyone beating them in any competition.
