The most important game of the Premier League campaign so far is almost upon us.
A substantial eight-point gap between league leaders Manchester City and second placed United has seen bookmaker Paddy Power already pay out on those who backed City to claim the league title.
Today’s game between the two at Old Trafford could make the difference between a manageable five point gap and a seemingly unassailable 11.
Per their starting eleven, City are still without John Stones in defence, which is a blow considering the young Englishman’s form this season.
Instead, Nicolas Otamendi will line out alongside captain Vincent Kompany.
A powerful and pacey United attack of Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku will be looking to combat the City defence.
Despite Stones’ no show, Jose Mourinho’s side have their own damaging absence in the suspended Paul Pogba.
Ander Herrera will line up alongside Nemanja Matic as he gets the nod over Marouane Fellaini.
Having rested most of the starting line-up against Shakhtar Donetsk after already topping their Champions League group, City return the likes of Sterling and De Bruyne to the starting eleven. United’s similar-strength starting side against CSKA Moscow sees six changes.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns to the bench.
