Manchester City have broken the record for the most matches won consecutively in the English top-flight.
That accomplishment, which puts them a seemingly unassailable eleven points ahead of second placed Man United, is thanks in no small part to their goalkeeper, Ederson.
The Brazilian faced only five shots on target in today’s Manchester derby, but two of those came in quick succession late on as United attempted to salvage something from a 2-1 deficit.
A fine passage of play from the Red Devils saw Anthony Martial send a wicked pass deep into the City box. A misfiring Romelu Lukaku fired the pass at goal, but Ederson, signed from Benfica in the summer, was equal to it.
Juan Mata followed up, but to no avail.
The essential double save saw the 24-year-old compared to his counterpart at the end of the pitch, David De Gea.
The Spaniard pulled off a similar feat last weekend against Arsenal, and there’s no-one better in the Premier League for Ederson to be mentioned in the same breath alongside.
