West Brom Relegated As Southampton Defeat Swansea

West Brom are now confirmed for football in the Championship next year after Southampton edged closer to safety with a win over Swansea.

West Brom’s supporters would have no doubt been watching intently as today’s Premier League clash between Southampton and Swansea got underway at the Liberty Stadium.

A draw would have been enough for their Premier League survival to remain intact and for 70 odd minutes, it really did seem as though things were going to be fine for them.

Unfortunately for the West Brom-faithful, Manolo Gabbiadini latched onto a rebounded shot from Charlie Austin to fire home just minutes after entering the fray as a sub.

For Southampton, who are in a fight against relegation of their own, this win was a crucial one and with just one game left for them to play, it puts them in a strong position to maintain their status in the country’s top league.

As for Swansea, a win next week is absolutely essential but even still, their seven-season residence in the Premier League is in some serious danger.
