Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is weighing up a move for Juventus’ Sebastian Giovinco, while Hugo Lloris and Nacer Chadli are injury doubts ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Manchester City.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is keeping a close eye on Juventus’ Sebastian Giovinco who has not yet signed a new contract that would keep him at the Serie A club after his current deal expires in the summer. The Italian who can play as an attacking midfielder, striker or winger is known for his playmaking abilities and would provide Pochettino with more options going forward.
The player’s camp however remain tight lipped on the ongoing talks, his agent Claudio Pasqualin was quoted in Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato as saying
“The renewal? We prefer to work in silence. I prefer not to comment any further,”
Should the talks break down Spurs might not have things all their own way as bitter rivals Arsenal are also interested in landing the Juventus man according to TalkSport.
In team news, Tottenham have injury worries facing into a daunting trip to Manchester City on Saturday according to The London Evening Standard. The north London outfit endured two chastening league defeats to the Citizens last season, a 6-0 hammering at The Ethiad and a 5-1 reversal on their own patch. They really want to go into this game at full strength but there are concerns surrounding goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and Nacer Chadli, both players who have enjoyed an excellent start to the season.
Lloris is on duty with the French national team, but a thigh injury kept him out of Saturday’s win over Portugal and he will not feature in tonight’s game against Armenia either. The French camp however insist the injury is not serious, coach Didier Dechamps was quoted as saying
“It’s going a lot better for Hugo but he won’t play against Armenia.”
Nacer Chadli is also away on international duty, having linked up with the Belgian squad but he too was sidelined for Saturday’s match, complaining of a hip injury. He will be assessed on his return to White Hart Land and Spurs are hopeful he will be available for the City game. Both players are crucial to Tottenham’s chances, Lloris has been in exceptional form between the sticks and Chandli is leading scorer.
