Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to reward Jon Flanagan with a new deal at Anfield.
Jon Flanagan, known affectionately as ‘Flani Alves’ by the Liverpool faithful, broke into the Liverpool starting line up last season and is set to be rewarded with a long term contract to keep him at Anfield, according to The Mirror. The right back, who was often played out of position on the left last term, impressed with his combative style and commitment to the cause. The fans on the Kop will be delighted to see local boy Flanagan establish himself at Anfield, the 21-year-old stressed his commitment to the jersey saying.
“All I’ve ever wanted is to play for Liverpool and I want to stay here for as long as I possibly can.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool youngster Jordan Ibe has signed a one year loan deal to bring him to Derby County. The 18-year-old winger is an exciting prospect and the loan move to the Championship club will give him the game time he needs to develop. Rams boss Steve McLaren is delighted with the signing and was quoted on the club website as saying.
“We’re delighted that Liverpool have again chosen to loan us one of their promising young players. Jordon Ibe is someone who we’ve been aware of for quite a while and have been impressed whenever we’ve seen him in action. He has a lot of potential and we believe that we can help his career development.”
