The Barcelona legend has given his unbiased take on who’s currently ruling the midfield roost in football.
Having won eight La Liga titles, four Champions League trophies and a World Cup at the helm of Barcelona and Spain respectively, Xavi Hernandez knows a thing or two about playing in midfield.
At the ripe old age of 37, the Spaniard is still plying his trade, now playing for Qatari side Al Sadd SC. He proved he still has it too in helping guide Al Saad to the Emir Cup last night with this wonderful assist.
Xavi’s still got it. ❤❤

After winning the latest in a litany of trophies, Xavi spoke to Le Parisien to give his take on those bossing the centre of the park on a much bigger stage, minus his former Barcelona colleagues.
“The five best midfielders right now without choosing from Barça? Modric, Kroos, Thiago, Verratti, and Ozil,” he declared.
The Real Madrid duo of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos come as no surprise, with their stellar seasons giving the Galacticos a real chance at a La Liga/Champions League double.
Thiago Alcantara has proven himself to be one of the world’s best since moving from the Nou Camp to the Allianz Arena of Bayern Munich in 2013, adding four Bundesliga titles to his four La Liga ones for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
At the age of just 24, Marco Verratti has been a sensation at Paris Saint Germain, earning comparisons with Andrea Pirlo for his majestic style of play.
Mesut Ozil’s inclusion is interesting, with the Arsenal star coming under sustained criticism for his performances this season as the Gunners are nailed on to miss out on a Champions League place.
