It’s now five goals in eight games for Marcus Rashford, having scored a crucial opener in the battle for fourth place in the Premier League.
With Manchester United now out of all European competition, and a replay looming in the FA Cup, today’s derby against rivals City is imperative if Louis van Gaal is to salvage a Champions League spot for the Red Devils.
Captain Wayne Rooney’s absence meant that it was left to 18-year-old Marcus Rashford to lead the line for the struggling Reds. After an extraordinary start to life in the senior squad which saw him score two important braces in two games, the young Englishman failed to score in the next five games.
Luckily for the beleaguered van Gaal, Rashford put United ahead at the Emirates after just 16 minutes.
Juan Mata provided the assist, as Rashford proceeded to leave City defender Martin Demichelis for dead before coolly finishing past Joe Hart.

A win would leave United just one point behind City, who currently occupy fourth in the Premier League table.
At 18 years and 141 days old, Marcus Rashford is now the youngest player to score in a #ManchesterDerby
