Neil Lennon’s penchant for winding up opposition fans came back to bite him tonight.
Of course, the Rangers fanbase has been subject to some goading from the Lurgan man, but it was Hearts that were on the receiving end in Scottish Premiership action on Wednesday.
They were three points ahead of Celtic heading into their clash against Lennon’s Hibernian side, with a win guaranteeing top spot in the table regardless of the result of that crucial clash this weekend.
Hearts looked to have secured that win in added time at Tynecastle Stadium. Some woeful defending with the goalkeeper caught in no-man’s land saw a header land in the away net.
After some brief elation for the home support, the linesman raised his flag, whether for an offside call or a foul during the mad scramble in the box.
A delighted Lennon attempted to ‘calm down’ the raucous crowd, but was soon floored after an object, most likely a coin, struck him in the face.

Hearts will likely be sanctioned by the authorities for the throwing of the object, but it might make the fiery Celtic legend second guess goading the crowd in future.
