Watch: Ajax’s Daley Blind Scores His First Ever Hat-Trick

Wonders never cease in the beautiful game.

In his 141 games at Manchester United from 2014-2018, Daley Blind scored just six goals.

That’s of course to be expected as a defender primarily. But today in the space of just 25 minutes, the Dutchman managed to bag half of that tally.

Blind rejoined boyhood club Ajax in the summer, and the Dutch side are now two points behind league leaders PSV courtesy of an 8-0 win today against Eredivisie whipping-boys, De Graafschap.

Ajax drew three-all with Bayern Munich in midweek, and within the first 45 minutes here against the Doetinchem-based strugglers, they managed another three goals.

Dusan Tadic, the former Southampton man who was impressive against the German champions, got the opener before Noussair Mazraoui and Hakim Ziyech put the game beyond the visitors before the break.

Ajax were only getting started though, and as Ziyech got his second goal on the hour mark, Blind got his first goal in Dutch football since 2014 in some style.

Ziyech secured his hat-trick minutes later for a 6-0 lead, but Blind was just as keen on taking home the match ball.

A composed finish from a corner made it seven, and the killer blow was delivered just before added time.

Judging by proceedings ongoing at Anfield, his former club United could certainly do with his goalscoring exploits today.
