Owned by the famed Class of ’92, Salford City have reached the FA Cup First Round for the first time in their history thanks to a wondergoal.
James Poole’s vision and stroke of genius in the sixty-ninth minute made the difference for Salford City in their 1-0 win over Vanarama National side Southport.
Neville brothers Gary and Phil, along with fellow Class of ’92 alumni Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt have a stake in the non-league outfit. Scholes and Gary were even on hand to witness the historic moment.

Depending on Monday’s first round draw, Salford could next face either Wigan or Portsmouth – both of whom have won the competition in recent years.
They are also the subject of a BBC documentary, the first instalment of which is to be broadcast this Thursday (29th October). If this goal is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat.
