In joining Michael Carrick on the injured list due to an international friendly, Martial’s possible absence following England’s 2-0 victory over France will give United manager Louis van Gaal a massive headache.
After the match, the 19-year-old was filmed leaving the stadium on crutches, with France head coach Didier Deschamps confirming that the striker was in distress. The hope remains that just superficial damage was done rather than involving tendons or muscles, which would require a long lay-off.
