The Mirror are reporting some worrying news for Manchester United ahead of next season.
Jose Mourinho has had some rather frosty relationships with players in his time at Old Trafford, with the likes of Juan Mata (stemming back from their shared Chelsea days) and Luke Shaw the main men in the firing line.
Another potential falling-out could occur in regards to centre-back Eric Bailly. The Ivorian was signed by Mourinho in 2016, and went on to make 38 appearances in a successful breakout season.
Injuries have curtailed his campaign this time around though, with the 24-year-old earning only 16 caps. Recently, Bailly was reportedly vomiting in the days before Manchester United’s April 15th 1-0 defeat to West Brom.
Although he made the bench for the subsequent 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, he was not 100% fit to play.
Nor did he make the matchday squad for the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur on the 21st, as illness once again took hold in the build up despite being declared fit. More than a week later, United hosted Arsenal this past Sunday, and again Bailly was nowhere to be seen, while this time being fully available.
Now according to The Mirror, Bailly is “worried about his Manchester United future”, having been given no explanation as to why he was absent from the matchday squad that defeated the Gunners 2-1 at home.
The absence is noticeable among fans, and also among the “surprised” United players, per John Cross of the outlet.
Next up for the Red Devils is a trip to relegation-threatened Brighton on Friday, and that squad announcement may go a long way towards shedding light on the situation.
