Paul Pogba Hasn’t Travelled With United Squad Ahead Of Derby

Some worrying news for Manchester United has intensified.

After Paul Pogba’s contribution to United’s stunning upset of Juventus in midweek, manager Jose Mourinho admitted that his star player was struggling with a ‘small injury’ ahead of the club’s biggest game of the season so far.

He trained away from the team, but hopes remained high that he would be present for the Sunday game against Manchester City.

But while Romelu Lukaku has recovered from his own injury, and rejoins the squad, there is no sign of Pogba, per Manchester Evening News.

Samuel Luckhurst of MEN did add a caveat that this absence could be part of some mind games, which was the label originally attributed by some to the initial injury reports.

It could still be the case that Pogba plays tomorrow, but so-called ‘mind games’ aside, it doesn’t look good.

More’s the pity for United – with the controversy around the midfielder settling down, he has turned in some fine performances in recent weeks. He was also instrumental in United’s 3-2 over City back in April, scoring twice before Chris Smalling’s winner.
