Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Agent Claims Manchester United Contract Offer Is “Not Factual”

Sky Sports claim to have contacted Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Raiola after reports linking his client with a move to Old Trafford.

A report from French outlet RMC, the very one who correctly broke the news of United’s successful signing of Anthony Martial last August, and that of Angel Di Maria the summer prior, said yesterday that the club had offered the 34-year-old a one year contract.

The source of the news understandably had the United faithful excited at the prospect of seeing the Swede strutting his stuff on the Old Trafford turf.

However, Sky Sports News have rubbished the rumours, claiming to have received a statement from football agent Mino Raiola. Raiola is reported to have said that the news is ‘totally made up’.

If that’s indeed the case, it could have implications for the seemingly impending arrival of Jose Mourinho as United manager. Per Bouhafsi of RMC, Ibrahimovic requested guarantees on the United ‘project’, especially surrounding the coach who will lead the club into next season.

If that stipulation proved to be a dealbreaker, it could mean that current manager Louis van Gaal may hold court at Old Trafford for longer than anyone expected. As for Mourinho? He’s off to Montreal…
