An Italian source suggests that Nemanja Matic and Jose Fonte aren’t the only players possibly on their way to Old Trafford.
The above duo command vast Premier League experience, but the latest potential recruit is known for his exploits in Italy.
According to CalcioMercato, Franck Kessie is now the subject of interest from two clubs; Chelsea and Manchester United. Though the former’s pursuit of the 20-year-old is well documented, the Blues seemed to have lost out due to the involvement of Serie A behemoths Juventus.
That scenario has been upended, however, as Fabrizio Romano claims that the Bianconieri contingent have pulled out of a move. The midfielder has seven goals to his name thus far this season, and carries a price tag reported to be in excess of £34m.
Though a vast sum, Chelsea saw fit to offer £21m for the Ivorian’s services just last month, indicating his availability in this window.
In terms of Manchester United’s interest, the Red Devils have yet to lodge an official offer.
The departure of Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton leaves a gap in the heart of midfield, but as seen below, Kessie is more attack oriented than the Frenchman.
The player is currently representing his national side, Ivory Coast, at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, and being separated from his club for the duration of the transfer window can only help potential suitors.
