Something tells us that Zlatan Ibrahimovic himself would agree with that particular description of him.
One of football’s biggest icons announced his July arrival at Manchester United in his own inimitable way. Zlatan Ibrahimovic took to Instagram to break the news before the club did.
When such a larger than life figure suddenly enters the dressing room, young Manchester United defender Luke Shaw could certainly be forgiven for being wary of what influence the Swede may have on proceedings at Old Trafford.
According to his interview with The Telegraph though, the 21-year-old need not have worried.
“He’s such a nice guy. Jose said it: he’s always around the younger lads, bringing that experience in for everyone,” Shaw revealed.
“Not just the younger ones – also those getting older, because they look at him as well and see what he’s done in his career. It’s only benefited us. For me, to have someone like that with that experience, to talk to and learn from his experience … that’s special. His aura, his presence.”
Ibrahimovic’s positive rapport with the United squad, particularly fellow recruit Paul Pogba has been clear to see thus far.
Shaw, who recently returned from a near year-long layoff, is adamant that the former PSG star is taking his twilight years seriously, however.
“But he’s got good stories as well. He’s focused on himself and the team, but he wants to do the best he can and get the best out of us players, too. He doesn’t miss anything. He sees it all and, if you’re not putting the effort in, he’ll tell you.”
