Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus for the past week.
The multiple Ballon d’Or winner made noises to the effect that he may leave Real Madrid after nine years, following their third successive Champions League win in May.
Whether a mooted move in the region of £88m happens remains to be seen, but either way with Ronaldo now 33-years-old, Madrid have to plan for the future.
According to Madrid-based paper Marca, the club have a superstar-filled list of alternatives to fill the Portuguese’s sizable boots – chief among those being Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
With six goals so far at the World Cup, Kane looks a dead cert to take home a golden boot, and after over 100 Premier League goals in just five seasons, he is said to be an ‘excellent replacement’.
Though the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric have made the move from White Hart Lane to the Bernabeu, Madrid are said to be wary of negotiating with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
Elsewhere, Neymar and Robert Lewandowski have moved down the list after the World Cup, while Kylian Mbappe is unlikely to leave PSG any time soon.
That leaves another Premier League star in Eden Hazard as a mentioned option, though his already sky-high value will only grow larger if Belgium prevail in Russia.
