Life under new manager Marco Silva is going swimmingly so far for the Toffees.

The former Watford boss replaced Sam Allardyce in May, after the Englishman left just six months into the job.

Though Everton finished eighth in the Premier League last season despite a poor start, their style of play has been criticised, and expensive signings such as Davy Klaasen have flopped.

While Silva still has a job on his hands to satisfy the Everton faithful, their 22-0 friendly win over Austrian side ATV Irdning has given him the best start possible.

Kevin Mirallas got no fewer than five goals, while Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse had to be content with only the four goals each.

Such was the attacking onslaught, the Irdning goalkeeper eventually just gave up attempting to limit the damage.

Seeing that, it’s debatable if the game was actually any help to Everton’s preparations for the season ahead, but if anyone deserves to enjoy a cricket-score win, it’s surely the blue half of Merseyside.

A trip to Bury on Wednesday is next on the agenda, before games in the Algarve Football Cup against Lille and Porto later this month.
