Ed Woodward: “We Have Bigger Targets, The Pedro Thing Will Be Soon Forgotten”

Is the The Wolf of Old Trafford up to his old tricks?

The ambitious executive vice-chairman of Manchester United, Ed Woodward, has been linked in recent days with a £200m plus bid for Barcelona and Brazil star Neymar Jr.

Some of the recent transfer news surrounding the Old Trafford club has been preposterous, but if the man himself is to be believed, the bravado is not without foundation.

The latest statement came via Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail:

“Don’t worry, we have bigger targets,’ was the thrust of Woodward’s message to associates. ‘The Pedro thing will eventually be forgotten.”

Alex Shaw of ESPN backed the validity of the claims to the hilt.

Of course, they had yet to sign Angel Di Maria (26th August), Daley Blind (30th) or Radamel Falcao (1st Sept) at this stage last year, so all is not lost yet for United regarding this particular window. To attract those marquee players though, it’s imperative that the Red Devils finish the job against Club Brugge tomorrow night in the second leg of their Champions League play-off.

United lead 3-1 on aggregate.
