Football’s comin’ home?
According to Britain’s Culture Secretary John Whittingdale, England are ready to host the 2022 World Cup if current hosts Qatar are stripped of one of the most watched sporting events in the world, due to the ongoing corruption scandal involving FIFA. Whittingdale made the claims this morning in the House of Commons.
Qatar’s chance of hosting the event is under doubt after several high-ranking FIFA officials were implicated in corruption charges, resulting in many high-profile arrests. Former top FIFA executive Chuck Blazer yesterday pleaded guilty.

The Culture Secretary also said that the case for rerunning the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bids was “very strong” if proof of corruption was found.
