Bankers & Bonkers: Betting Preview For Juventus v Real Madrid

The bookies can barely split them, but we’ll try our best in our betting preview of Juventus v Real Madrid.

The Juventus Stadium hosts the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final between Juventus and defending Champions Real Madrid tonight.

Juventus have lost only one of their last 54 competitive games at home (won 45 and 8 draws), have just three defeats in Serie A this season, and have won ten of their last 13 matches in all competitions.

The Galacticos have won nine of their last eleven matches, and have conceded only one goal away from home in this season’s Champions League. The Spanish giants claimed the trophy for a 10th time last season, and  will become the only side to ever defend Ol’ Big Ears if they are successful in doing so again this year.

The last time these two sides met was in Turin in November 2013, where the Champions League group stage tie finished 2-2.

Injuries: The Bianconeri are missing French sensation Paul Pogba due to a hamstring injury, along with Martin Caceres, Luca Marrone and Kwadwo Asamoah. Madrid are without striker Karim Benzema, who has scored 15 goals this season, while Croatian midfielder Luka Modric also misses out.

Juventus are unbeaten in 12 European matches in Turin, but it’s difficult seeing them rout Madrid. For their part, Madrid have put the lesser sides to the sword, scoring plenty of goals in the process. It’s when they’ve played elite teams such as Atletico and Barcelona that the scoreline tends to settle down (due in part to Real’s defensive prowess).

Selection: Under 2.5 goals @ 8/13

Measured Punt

On the evidence of their two quarter-final legs against Monaco, Juventus could be more focused on not conceding here than than winning. They’ve kept five clean sheets in their last six home games while as already mentioned, Madrid have conceded only one away goal in the competition (currently 444 minutes).

Selection: 0-0 Draw @ 7/1

Bonkers

Juventus are in great form, and are coming into the tie fresh off their recent fourth consecutive Serie A title. Madrid lost two away games in March, against bitter rivals Barcelona and to Atletic Bilbao in an upset. Carlos Tevez scored two against Fiorentina last week, and our bonkers bet is a repeat of the feat, along with a clean sheet for the Italian side.

Selection: Juventus 2-0 @ 27/2
