Antonio Valencia’s spectacular effort against Everton characterises Manchester United’s new-found attacking venom.
The Red Devils have put their goalscoring woes behind them, having plundered 15 goals in their first five games of the season. The attacking threat of Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and co. has delivered, but a former winger-turned-full back has topped the lot today at Old Trafford.
Just four minutes into Wayne Rooney’s first return to Old Trafford since his move to Everton, United captain Antonio Valencia unleashed a rare, ungodly strike to render Everton ‘keeper Jordan Pickford utterly helpless.
Famed for his crossing with his patented right foot, Valencia tucked in on this occasion with Everton playing deep. Nemanja Matic sent the ball across the edge of the Toffees’ box, as the excellent Ecuadorian met the ball on a quick half-volley.

Still getting over that Valencia goal. I mean, I've seen him belt crosses at that speed before, but Christ, that was something else.

As one of the remaining stars from the Alex Ferguson era, Valencia commands a fan-favourite status among the Old Trafford faithful, a status that has just gotten a lot stronger.
