Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Greizmann came under fire for a tweet he posted on Sunday night.
In it the 26-year old included a picture of a Harlem Globetrotters costume he wore for an ’80s party. Unfortunately, Greizmann went a little too far in emulating the infamous exhibition basketball team.
The Frenchman kept the tweet public for over an hour, posting this soon after to his 4.8 million Twitter followers.
“Calm down guys, I’m fan of the Harlem globetrotters and the good times… it’s a tribute.”
He eventually deleted it, and apologised for any ‘hurt’ caused.
Je reconnais que c’est maladroit de ma part. Si j’ai blessé certaines personnes je m’en excuse.

“I agree that it’s awkward for me. If I hurt some people excuse me.”
The damage was already done, however, with Greizmann now making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
If Griezmann had just worn the Afro and the jersey without painting his skin and face the costume would’ve been perfectly acceptable.

This dumbass Antoine Griezmann not only did blackface but he did his whole body.
What a loser.

Anyone defending Griezmann needs to educate themselves. I don't think Griezmann is a racist, but what he did was a racist act. Horrible decision on his part. Not sure what he was thinking. Utterly disrespectful thing to do
