Antoine Greizmann Apologises For ‘Blackface’ Costume Controversy

Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Greizmann came under fire for a tweet he posted on Sunday night.

In it the 26-year old included a picture of a Harlem Globetrotters costume he wore for an ’80s party. Unfortunately, Greizmann went a little too far in emulating the infamous exhibition basketball team.

The Frenchman kept the tweet public for over an hour, posting this soon after to his 4.8 million Twitter followers.

“Calm down guys, I’m fan of the Harlem globetrotters and the good times… it’s a tribute.”

He eventually deleted it, and apologised for any ‘hurt’ caused.

“I agree that it’s awkward for me. If I hurt some people excuse me.”

The damage was already done, however, with Greizmann now making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
