Shane Long needed just seven short seconds to fire his Southampton side ahead of Watford in record time in today’s Premier League action.
It’s now three goals in his last four for the Irishman but we’re doubtful that he’ll score one quite like this for some time.
Long brought Vicarage Road to a standstill when he was able to fire past Ben Foster in the Watford goal to give The Saints the lead just seconds after the opening whistle.
It now stands as the quickest goal in the history of the English Premier League.
Picking up the ball in the Watford half after intercepting a clearance, Long was able to find some space before neatly chipping over the helpless Foster to earn himself a goal he’ll likely never forget.

Originally thought to be six seconds, it was later corrected to seven – although the record remained intact.
0.07 – At just seven seconds, Shane Long's strike against Watford is the fastest ever scored in @premierleague history. Record. #WATSOU
