Russia’s Denis Cheryshev broke the deadlock in their quarter-final matchup against Croatia with a true contender for goal of the tournament.
Take a bow Denis, take a bow.
It took just over a half an hour for the host-nation to open up the scoring against their World Cup quarter-final opponents Croatia and boy was it an absolute beauty.
Cheryshev, who plies his trade at Spanish outfit, Villarreal, picked up the ball outside the Croatian box before curling in it in with an effort that left keeper Subasic completely rooted to the ground.
Croatia equalised not long after thanks to an Andrej Kramaric header – evening things up just shy of the 40th minute.
