Virgil Van Dijk and Raheem Sterling were the two players to come away with the top individual honours at today’s PFA Awards.
Today marked the celebration of The PFA Awards, a ceremony designed to honour the finest players to have taken part in the ongoing season.
Ahead of the show, there was a lot of discussion over the identities of the winners of both the Player Of The Year and the Young Player Of The Year, and it was the eventual winners in Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk and Raheem Sterling who were the early favourites for each award.
Van Dijk has been a stone in the heart of Jurgen Klopp’s surging Liverpool side, anchoring their team with his greatest overall performance in any one season to date.
For the league-leaders Manchester City, Sterling has been immense all season scoring seventeen goals in the Premier League – leaving his side neck-in-neck with Van Dijk’s City in one of the all-time great finishes to the league.
Considering that the title-race is still in motion, it was pretty obvious that the top two sides in the league would share the spoils as far as this end-of-season awards ceremony was concerned.
The question now is who will reign supreme where it really counts.
