Two Former Irish U-21’s To Make The Switch To Northern Ireland

A pair of former under-21 players for the Irish international team are reportedly close to tying themselves down to the Northern Irish senior squad.

A report made by the Belfast Telegraph has claimed that Sean Scannell and Niall Keown are close to pledging their respective futures to the Northern Irish international setup.

Scannell, who was once a hotly-tipped prospect, is best-known for his spells at Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace. He spent this season on loan at Burton Albion where after 18 appearances he has failed to find the net once.

Keown, on the other hand, is the son of former-Arsenal man Martin Keown, and has represented Reading and most recently Partick Thistle as well as two game stint for the Irish under-21 side.

Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill is apparently looking to bolster the ranks of his current squad and while nothing has been confirmed yet, it looks as though the coming months will see him do exactly that.
