Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has dipped into his old club’s pool of talent, signing Ovie Ejaria on loan for his own side, Rangers.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers camp is in the process of setting up for next season’s campaign and despite the fact that the World Cup in Russia is now underway, that hasn’t stopped the Liverpudlian’s activity in the transfer market.
Ovie Ejaria has represented the club on two occasions in the Premier League but spent last season on loan at Sunderland – where he represented the Black Cats on eleven different occasions. Now, Jurgen Klopp has seen fit to send the 20-year-old to Ibrox for the season on loan under the care of the club legend Gerrard.
Speaking to the fans via Rangers TV, the manager had this to say on Ejaria:
“With Ovie I think it is important that the crowd give him a bit of time to come up and adapt to the surroundings. He will be coming up alone, without his family.
“He will be joining us in Spain and we will work him in at the right time and speed. In terms of talent, in terms of someone who can get a fan on the edge of their seat, in terms of someone who has got tonnes of ability and is waiting for people to admire, we feel he is ready to burst.
“But, he will have to be managed and put in at the right time. He is one that I am confident can excite the fans here and I know what the fans want here, they want exciting players to watch.”
Rangers will face a stiff test in their first game of the season as they play away to Aberdeen in what will also be their first match under their new manager.
