Sky Sports have lost their broadcasting rights to La Liga next season to Eleven Sports, which is run by the owners of Leeds United.
Sky Sports’ coverage of the 2018/19 season will be that bit less riveting following the news that they will lose out on their right to broadcast on Spain’s La Liga from here on out.
Eleven Sports, which is owned by Leeds United’s Andrea Radrizzani, will take over. Sky Sports has been working in association with La Liga for over 20 years and showed fixtures from Spain’s top-flight every weekend consistently.

Marc Watson, the CEO of Eleven Sports had this to say on the recent deal being made:
“This is an incredibly exciting time for our young and dynamic company and we will announce soon how we will introduce innovative ways for dedicated fans to watch and engage in the live action.
“The way people, especially young people, watch live sport is changing and we always try to reflect that in the ways we make our product available. We are excited about the opportunities we have to do this in the UK and Ireland.” – (via Irish Mirror)
Eleven Sports, which started in 2015, has been acquiring the rights to a variety of different sports in several countries in the last few years but with this latest signing, they have well and truly taken in a huge one.
