Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly accepted a two-year suspended sentence as well as a hefty €18.8 million fine after being accused of defrauding authorities.
Following the news that Cristiano Ronaldo had been accused of defrauding tax authorities of a sum in the region of €14.8 million, questions have loomed over his innocence just hours out from Portugal’s crucial World Cup opener against Spain.
Ronaldo, of course, denied these claims in court last summer but the case is still open.
Spanish news outlet El Mundo first reported that he had made an offer – which was later rejected to settle things and now, the same publication has claimed that the Real Madrid superstar has accepted a two-year suspended prison sentence as well as a fine which reportedly comes too €18.8 million.
He will not serve any time in jail but this is a sizeable fine to pay for the Portuguese forward.
