Reports from across the pond are linking Everton’s Wayne Rooney with a move to the MLS side, DC United, after this season’s conclusion.
Wayne Rooney’s return to his boyhood club Everton has seen him find the net 10 times but it really was a season of two halves for the former Manchester United man, with him now having gone goalless since December.
With one game left to play, the Toffees are more-or-less settled in eighth place and while his goal-drought has somewhat detracted from the fact that he remains Everton’s top scorer in the league, by all accounts his return has been something of a success.
Manager Sam Allardyce mentioned recently that only a huge offer from the likes of China or the US would be enough to sway the former-international away from his current setup and if reports from America are to be believed, it could well happen.
According to The Washington Post, MLS outfit DC United are preparing to attempt to sign the decorated Englishman for what will be the second go at it, after failing to do so last summer.
As a well-respected legend of the sport, Rooney would no doubt add to the ever-increasing popularity of the sport in the States and we’re sure the paycheque wouldn’t be too shabby either.
