The committee in charge of organising the Liam Miller memorial match met with the GAA once again and have now revealed the format for the eagerly anticipated September 25 game.
Following a period of uncertainty over the venue that would be set for the tribute to the former United and Celtic man, the GAA finally confirmed that Pairc Ui Chaoimh and its 45,000 capacity could be used.
After meeting with the committee a few days ago, we received the news that many had been hoping for given the demand for tickets to the event and now, the format for the memorial has been revealed.
The statement from the committee responsible can be read in full below:
A follow up meeting took place today between members of the Liam Miller Tribute Organising Committee and the Chairperson and Secretary of the Cork County GAA Board to agree on the format of the Tribute game in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on September 25th. The County Board have confirmed there will be no rental cost involved with the stadium, which is much appreciated by the organisers.
It was also agreed that the most suitable way to celebrate and recognise Liam’s involvement in GAA sport at a juvenile level is to have juvenile exhibition games, in both football and hurling, at half time involving young boys and girls from Liam’s club Éire Óg.
Match tickets will go on sale on Tickets.ie on Monday, 13th August at 10am.
There will be a number of ticket options available. Ticket prices will range from €10 (Terrace Concession) to €90 (Premium Level). Full details of the full range of options available are below.
Those who have already purchased tickets for the event will be issued with a replacement ticket, located in the Páirc Uí Chaoimh South Stand. Instructions will be issued directly in due course by Ticketmaster.ie to customers on how to swap these tickets.
The move in venue has greatly increased our capacity and now, coupled with a range of pricing, it should help to maximise the attendance at the game and allow the Cork and Irish sporting public to honour Liam’s wonderful sporting career.
Accordingly, we have a range of ticket prices available within the stadium, as follows:
- Terrace – Concession* €10
- Terrace – €20
- North Stand – Concession* €25
- South and North Stand – €40 to €50
- Premium Level – €90
The match is set to include a star-studded lineup of both Irish internationals and some of Miller’s former Manchester United teammates including Roy Keane, Robbie Keane, Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes.
