Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has one highly important piece of advice for Liverpool following the sale of key player Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
One of the most widely-covered transfer sagas of the year 2017 has finally wrapped up in the early days of 2018 as Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho completes his move from Anfield to Barcelona for a reported 142 million pounds.
It was a long and drawn out process for fans of both clubs but now, with it all done-and-dusted, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has offered his two-cents on Coutinho as a player, also offering some crucial advice to the club in order to avoid history repeating itself.
Disappointed Coutinho has gone, never thought he’d turn into the players he’s become when I first played with him, but he’s been a great @LFC player these last few years. 142 million though! Just need to use the money better than we did when Suarez left!!

Luis Suarez’s big-money move – also to Barcelona, brought in a fee believed to be in the region of 65 million, and though Suarez took to his new home with a real finesse, the money that was taken in by Liverpool was spent in acquiring the likes of Mario Balotelli, Lazar Markovic, and Rickie Lambert, to name a few and with an eye on both this window and the summer window, Carragher is hopeful that the club spend their money wisely.
