There was a well-deserved outpouring of praise for the legendary Portuguese forward as he announced his transfer from Real Madrid to Juventus today.
We’ll remember this day for quite some time.
It had been brewing behind closed doors for a while but today finally came the announcement that Cristiano Ronaldo would be leaving the Santiago Bernabéu for Turin-giants Juventus – bringing to an end a nine-year stint at the Spanish club.
After winning his third consecutive Champions League final for Madrid last season, the questions surrounding Ronaldo’s future came soon after, mainly because there wasn’t much that was left for him to achieve.
And so his time in La Liga will soon come to an end and today, following the transfer being made official, there an outpouring of respect Cristiano from his fellow players, managers and beyond.
.@Cristiano, your goals, your numbers and everything we've won together speak for themselves. You have earned a special place in the history of @RealMadrid. As Madridistas we'll remember you always. I don’t think we’ll ever see a rivalry like Messi’s Barca v Ronaldo’s Madrid again… Not in my lifetime.
Truly one for the ages.
