Leicester City’s star man Riyad Mahrez has officially signed for Manchester City for a club record fee of £60 million.
Manchester City have officially nabbed themselves their biggest signing of the summer to date, signing Leicester City standout Riyad Mahrez after a lengthy period of speculation linking him with the club.
Mahrez was, of course, a member of that legendary Leicester outfit that pulled off the most incredible Premier League underdog story of all-time back in 2016, and in the time since signing for the club from Le Havre back in 2014, he has appeared on 179 occasions, scoring 48 goals.
The transfer negotiations between both sides stretch back as far as last January – where City made an approach for the 27-year-old but were reportedly put off by the Foxes’ high valuation.
With the deal now done, it will be interesting to see how the Algerian links up with some of the talent on offer at the Etihad and with the 2018/19 Premier League campaign just around the corner, it won’t be long until we find out.
