Messi Brace Helps Barca Ease Past Liverpool In Semi-Final Clash

Lionel Messi’s Barcelona were just too much for Liverpool in today’s Champions League semi-final as they left with a dominant 3-0 victory.

You could really get a sense of the stakes on offer here as Barcelona met Liverpool in today’s Champions League semi-final and it showed in the exhilarating early exchanges.

An electric opening half hour was highlighted by moments of brilliance on both sides but it was Barcelona who struck first, with former Reds man Luis Suarez capping off a beautifully-constructed move with a slick outstretched finish give his side the lead.

Sadio Mane will be kicking himself after missing an absolute sitter – served up to him on a plate by Jordan Henderson just five minutes after Barca’s opener.

Overall, the opening half showcased two top quality sides in a fairly evenly-matched battle for control – with Barcelona pulling ahead as the half drew on.

As always, it was the little Argentine who was the catalyst, scoring Barca’s second before claiming his own second with a beautiful free-kick in the 80th minute.

The accuracy displayed by Lionel Messi from that distance left those in the commentary booth in a state of shock as they once again sang his praises.

In the end, Liverpool tried their hardest to push back and register on the scoreboard but the damage was well and truly done by Leo and his fellow Barcelona stars.

The tie is well and truly in a tough spot for Jurgen Klopp’s men, but who knows, as history has shown us anything can happen in football.
