Seamus Coleman endured a day to forget.
Former Premier League defender and England international, Micah Richards, took aim at Seamus Coleman, following Everton’s dire 2-1 defeat away to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.
The result piled the pressure on Toffees boss Rafa Benitez, with the ex-Liverpool manager said to be on the brink of losing his job at Goodison Park.
And while the result was positive from an Irish perspective, with Adam Idah scoring, it was a poor showing from Coleman, who struggled against the Canaries.
Micah Richards on Seamus Coleman: “He’s normally so reliable..”
“[It was] an absolute shambles, if I’m being totally honest,” Richards said on Match of the Day last night. “I mean some of the defending today…
“The individual errors. [Seamus] Coleman takes a bad touch and is put under pressure, and can’t get it away. That was in the first ten seconds of the game.
“In this situation here [for the goal], Myolenko is two vs one, but he’s got to stop the cross. That’s so Michael Keane doesn’t have to worry about coming out.

“If he adjusts his position a little bit, he can stop the own-goal from happening.
“He’s off-balance and his way it’s gone in the wrong way, which leads to the goal. [Seamus] Coleman, again, he’s normally so reliable. These are experienced players.
“You can have a pop at the manager, all you want, but some of these performances..”
While still an integral part of Benitez’s first-team squad, Coleman has struggled throughout much of the current Premier League season.
So far, he has made 15 appearances for the Toffees in the Premier League this term, but has yet to score in any of the games.
Next up for the Co. Donegal native, and his side, is a home clash against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa next weekend. Kick-off is on Saturday at 12.30pm.
