Karim Benzema is in the form of his life.
Rio Ferdinand has explained that defenders are now in ‘fear’ of Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, as the French forward continues his remarkable recent run of form for the Spanish giants.
Benzema has been in fine form in La Liga and the Champions League, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side bouncing back well from last year’s disappointment under previous boss Zinedine Zidane.
And speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s crunch Champions League semi-final second-leg at home to Man City, Ferdinand explained how their star man has established himself as one of the most feared strikers in Europe.

“He has always been a top, top, top player..”
“I think the impact of the way he is performing this year,” he began. “He has always been a top, top, top player. But the amount of goals that he has got, and the sheer amount of goals he has got..
“He’s one of my favourite players of all time.”
“There is an absolute fear from other defenders when he comes up against them.”

“There is now an absolute fear from other defenders when he comes up against them.
“There are players going to bed not sleeping as comfortably as they would have in previous years because of the way he has reached a rich vein of form.”
So far this season, Benzema has nettted 26 league goals in just 29 starts, with Real Madrid romping home to secure yet another La Liga title.
And it was his goal against Espanyol that put the gloss on their 4-0 win, securing their 35th league title on Saturday afternoon.
