Jason Knight is continuing to impress at Derby County.
Derby County boss Wayne Rooney has explained the impact, and importance of Jason Knight at Derby County, despite their relegation to League One from the Championship.
While Knight, and his teammates battled bravely through the season, the Rams were unable to secure their Championship status for the 2022/23 campaign, after being issued with a hefty 21-point deduction earlier this season.
Despite their relegation, Derby were still able to attract 4,000 away supporters to Bloomfield Road on Saturday, as they claimed a morale-boosting 2-0 win away to Blackpool.
“He lifted everyone in my opinion..”
Although he did not get on the scoresheet, Knight did impress his manager, with Rooney singing the praises of his in-demand midfielder.
“I thought we went through a 10 to 15-minute period where it was tough and Knighty just through work rate and energy and aggression brought more out of his team mates,” Rooney said after the game.

“Sometimes that gets unnoticed, so I think he deserves a lot of praise. In the second half, he lifted everyone in my opinion.
“Sometimes it is not through being vocal, going around and shouting at people, it was the way he runs, the way he lifts everyone and his energy is infectious.”

For now, however, it is unclear where the 21-year-old will be plying his trade next season.
While a move to a Championship, or a Premier League club may be likely, there have been suggestions that he may stay at Pride Park, and help Derby secure promotion back to the second-tier under Rooney.
Saying that, he will be looking to finish his season strongly at Derby this weekend, as the Rams take on Cardiff City in their final league game of the season.
