An interesting few weeks await Ireland’s number one.
Ireland first-choice goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu is being targeted by a host of Championship clubs ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report this morning.
BBC reporter Andrew Moon has revealed that a number of clubs are interested in taking the Man City loanee away from League One side Portsmouth.
Bournemouth, who already have Mark Travers on their books, are said to be interested in bring him to the Vitality Stadium, despite an obvious impasse in place.
A number of Championship clubs (including #AFCB) have been keeping a close eye on Gavin Bazunu. HOWEVER he can only be recalled if Man City have an injury crisis (be intrigued how that would be worded in a contract), so he’s set to stay at #Pompey for the season

Earlier this week, Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley revealed that only an ‘injury crisis’ would result in Bazunu leaving Fratton Park early this season.
Gavin Bazunu linked with Championship loan.
But these fresh links with a Championship move may come at a time where City may start to mull their options over the Firhouse teenager.
“There is no recall, the clause is if Manchester City get into serious injury concerns with the goalkeepers,” Cowley said. “And they have a few in front of Gavin, not loads, but enough to suggest that won’t happen.
“We would have to be very unlucky should that occur, but then again not much has gone for us at the moment
“Gavin has been incredible for us at every level in terms of improving the team, working towards the game idea and value for money.”
And while it may appear unlikely, it is only natural that interest in Bazunu will start to pique ahead of the January transfer window.

Just last week, it was reported that Liverpool were keeping close tabs on the former Shamrock Rovers keeper should he decide to move on from Man City.
But a Championship move could arrive at an important time for the Dubliner, as he looks to kick on following an impressive 2021 at club, and international level.
And despite fears over his future at Fratton Park, Bazunu is likely to remain there until the end of the season, unless City opt to exercise their recall clause in his contract.
Meanwhile, just last week, former Ireland international, and Bazunu’s Pompey teammate Shaun Williams sang Bazunu’s praises in The Independent.
“I don’t see any reason why he can’t go all the way, he’s performing at a superb level now and he’s only 19,” he stressed.
“I can’t think of another keeper in football who is doing that. He’s a good person first and also a good footballer.”
