A bad season is finally over for Man United.

Former Premier League defender Michael Dawson has posed some serious questions of Ralf Rangnick’s stewardship of Man United during his interim spell in charge at Old Trafford.

Taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Rangnick was unable to stop United’s slide as they missed out on Champions League football under the German.

And speaking today amid United’s Europa League qualification, Dawson held little back when he discussed their dreadful campaign.

“I look at him and think, ‘wow, how is he still employed by the club?’..”

“He’s made Ole Gunnar Solskjaer look good,” he explained on Sky Sports. “I look at him and think, ‘wow, how is he still employed by the club?’ It has been an absolute disaster since day one.

“This is Manchester United, and I think Ten Hag will have his own philosophy and strategy. [But] you see the dressing room there, and that has to start from the manager.

“If things aren’t happening, you make it happen. It is as simple as that. You can’t let players control it, and that is what happened. Juan Mata said it.

“That performance at Brighton.. I couldn’t believe it..”

On the last day of the season, United were defeated by Crystal Palace, but they did qualify for the Europa League at the very least.

That was after West Ham fell to defeat on the final day of the season away to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Incredibly, United also sank to a record low goal difference of 0 for the season with their defeat at Selhurst Park. Wilfried Zaha’s goal ended up being the difference between the sides.
