Real Madrid claimed another Champions League crown.

Real Madrid have been crowned as the 2021/22 Champions League winners, after edging out Liverpool by a one-goal margin at the Stade de France in Paris.

Vinicius Jr’s goal proved to be the difference between the side’s, as he tapped home into an empty net, finishing off a devilishly weighted ball into the six-yard box.

And speaking after the game, Real Madrid shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois hit back at his naysayers in England after claiming his Champions League crown in the French capital.

“I don’t think I have enough respect in England..”

“I said in a press conference that when Real Madrid play in finals, they win it and I am on the good side of history,” he said when speaking to BT Sport.

“I saw a lot of tweets coming my saying that I was going to get humbled. It was the other way round. Today, I needed to win a final for my career, and the hard work.

“[Also] to put respect on my name, because I don’t think I have enough respect in England. I got a lot of criticism even after a great season, saying that I was not good enough or whatever.

“I am just really happy with the performance of the team. We stuck to it, and when I needed to be there I was there for the team.”

Real Madrid win the Champions League.

For Liverpool, it is a sour end to a superb season for them, after missing out on two trophies at the end of the season.

On the final day of the Premier League, the Reds missed out on another league title thanks to a sensational late fightback from Man City against Aston Villa.

And in the Champions League final, they just came up short when it mattered most as Jurgen Klopp’s side were undone in Paris.
