Manchester United have announced that they have reached an agreement to sign Daley Blind for a reported fee of £14m according to the Daily Mail. Ajax and Manchester United have agreed a fee for the Dutch international and are now set to discuss personal terms.

Manchester United have been linked with the 24-year-old all summer and are now set to sign the player for £14 million. Earlier in the week Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars indicated that if Manchester United meet Ajax’s asking price they could get their man. A fee of £14m is now set to seal the arrival of the versatile Dutch international.

‘We want to keep Blind for another year, but if the offer is high, we’re happy to talk,’ said Overmars to De Telegraaf.

With the current squad struggling for form and after the humiliating 4-0 loss to MK Dons, Manchester United look set to add more international quality to their squad.

Blind has been left out of Ajax’s squad for their weekends Eredivsie clash and is set to discuss personal terms ahead of a proposed £14m move.

Blind is capable of playing in a left wing back role as seen at this year’s World Cup and he has even featured as a left sided centre half, but most of his appearances for Ajax last year were in the centre of midfield, an area where United are lacking in quality.

Blind is the 4th left footed player to join United and it will be interesting to see where Van Gaal will use the versatile player With Luke Shaw out injured Blind could be iniatially used as cover in a left-wing back role.

With Angel Di Maria having completed his move to Old Trafford earlier and Daley Blind now expected to follow suit it looks set to a busy few days at Old Trafford.

Louis Van Gaal claimed on Friday that the players they are targeting are willing to join Manchester United despite the prospect of no Champions League football at Old Trafford this season.

“We know already in advance what players we want and sometimes you can have them but sometimes no.

“It is also dependent on the club – more the club than the players, because the players want to come, all (of them).”

Blind now looks set to join the Red Devils and there also looks to be some departures on the horizon with Shinji Kagawa and Tom Cleverley expected to leave before the transfer window shuts. There is also speculation that Danny Welbeck could also be set to move.

Blind may not be Van Gaal’s final piece of business with William Carvalho linked a move in the last number of days while United may also look to sign a centre half. It looks set to be a busy few days at Old Trafford as Van Gaal looks to build a squad capable of securing Champions League football for next season.
