EA Sports have confirmed that a World Cup expansion pack will be released for FIFA 18 next month.

Ahead of the beginning of the finals in Russia on the 14th of June, FIFA’s World Cup mode will be released as a free download for the current release, rather than as a separate standalone game, as has become the norm for video game tie-ins in recent international tournaments.

The patch will feature a number of new game modes as well as including all 32 qualifiers and 12 official World Cup grounds from Russia, and updates to its popular Ultimate Team mode.

It also gives players the chance to customise the World Cup draw to their own design – meaning Ireland fans have the chance to virtually right the wrongs of last November’s play-off defeat to Denmark and play as Martin O’Neill’s Boys in Green against the world’s best national sides.

The World Cup mode will be released on platforms such as Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC worldwide on May 29th.
