Chris Henry Details Battle With Stroke And Return To Rugby

Former Ulster and Ireland international, Chris Henry, sat down for an exclusive chat with Pundit Arena recently where he recalled the daunting experience of suffering a stroke prior to a test match with South Africa.

Astonishingly, Henry battled back from the harrowing experience and returned to professional rugby in time to make the final cut for Joe Schmidt’s squad at the 2015 World Cup.

“The morning of the South Africa game, 8th November 2014, I woke up really ready to play a test match, feeling fantastic and confident,

“Then went into the bathroom and suffered a mini-stroke, my left arm fell, the left-hand side of my face dropped and all my speech went,

“So, a pretty terrifying experience.”
