Michael Chandler feels he is still Conor McGregor’s top choice of opponent for UFC White House.
Despite comments by UFC President Dana White that McGregor vs Chandler won’t be happening, the American insists he is McGregor’s top choice for his comeback bout.
Michael Chandler Believes He Is Still Conor McGregor’s Top Choice For UFC White House
UFC President Dana White may have shut down talks of a Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler fight at UFC White House, but that doesn’t mean the bout is dead in the water just yet.
In fact, Chandler remains confident that he will be the man to face McGregor on the South Lawn of the White House come June 14 in Washington DC, despite what White has said.
Chandler reacted to White’s comments on The Ariel Helwani Show on Wednesday, January 21, insisting he remains focused on facing the former two-division simultaneous UFC champion and hasn’t given up hope just yet.
In fact, the American MMA star feels there is still a strong chance of the fight happening. The reason for this being that he believes he is McGregor’s ‘top choice’ for a comeback fight.

Although it’s the UFC’s decision who headlines UFC White House and who McGregor will face, the Irishman will undoubtedly have some power in deciding who he will fight on his return, if indeed that comes at the White House this summer.
Candler feels he is still the front-runner to face the 37-year-old, and admitted the feeling is mutual too with the American himself wanting to fight the Irishman:
“I think I’m his top choice. He’s my top choice… Neither of us are in as much control as we wish we were. We’ll see how it plays out after this weekend,” Chandler revealed on The Ariel Helwani Show.

McGregor vs Chandler ‘Just Makes So Much Sense’ For The White House
Conor McGregor has posted several cryptic messages on social media amid UFC White House speculation, insisting that he will most definitely be making his long-awaited return on the card and is fully serious about getting back in the octagon this summer.
The Irishman has posted several videos on social media insinuating that he will return at the White House. A lot of his posts have included Michael Chandler too, making fans believe that McGregor vs Chandler will be the fight booked for the ground-breaking UFC card.
Both men are past their primes and are undoubtedly in the later stages of their careers. That makes for a far more competitive fight than some of the other opponents being mentioned for ‘Notorious’.

The fact that Chandler and McGregor share so much history with several fight cancellations and even their stint as rival coaches on The Ultimate Fighter just adds to the narrative of settling the score once an for all inside the UFC cage.
Chandler agrees with a lot of fans that the fight makes total sense, insisting the match-up simply cannot fail to deliver and would be a compelling one for fans to watch:

Whether or not UFC President Dana White changes his mind and makes a U-turn on the McGregor vs Chandler fight remains to be seen. For now it seems unlikely the fight will happen at UFC White House, but don’t rule it out totally just yet.
